I went to a naranon meeting tonight. I needed it so badly after the week of hell here.
I realized on thing...I'm addicted to their addiction. I spend most of my days and night focused on them I'm forgetting myself. Not sure how I got sucked back into it. But I did.
I'm taking some steps back. They need to figure this out. It's time for me to have some sort of life other then addiction.
They have both been to meetings the past two nights. One is in a shelter and the other will be joining him if he doesn't have a sober house by Sat. I know to some this is harsh. Maybe. But it's my
Only hope to get them to stay on the path of recovery. They need to get sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I'm struggling whether to go to Thanksgiving. I don't think ill be able to handle the questions from people I may not know. On the other hand, if I stay home alone, then I'm letting the addiction control me again. I feel different about it each day. Can't wait for the holidays to be OVER!

I know the questions people ask ugh. Like our kids problems should be dinner conversation. Where are these people when we need support? My brother who calls every five years or so hasn't seen my kids in about 10 years. Hears thru my sister the pot stirrer all his issues. He asks how's he doing. Well if you really want to know get off your ass and be an uncle.
So I say fine. Why? Because it's none of his business. He doesn't care anyway.
Go to Thanksgiving. Don't isolate yourself. I know I'm so tired I feel like doing that too. But this year do your own prayer at dinner being thankful he's getting help
and go to meetings when you want to...
everyone needs support.
You know, I take care of my mom when she needs help now, and I was there three days a week for months, and last week I didn't see her from Monday until Sunday and I was going crazy. Reminded me again and again and again,
that I need to have my own life. My own interests. not lose myself in someone else. my addict, my sick husband, my aging mother...no...at the end of the day, all we have is ourselves. we need to love and care for ourselves.
