was the obsession gone? no. but my thinking was healthier. I also read Dale Carnagie books years ago about anxiety and they said in them, "imagine the worst case senerio" if you can figure out how to handle that, you can handle anything easier than that. So I thought about my son being dead. I figured out he would be at peace, and in a way, so would the family....I saw it in my mind's eye and dealt with it. After that, any news (jail, hospital etc) was good news by comparison, and thank God, I have not gotten that dreaded phone call yet. He is sober 3 years this April.
I did the serenity prayer a lot too. I walked, did yoga...tried to keep myself healthy in mind and body and spirit.
