My son called me today

He's been in rehab for over a month now. When the phone rings and I hear him on the other end I never know if the call is to say he left and please come get him.

Today he surprised me. He was pleasant and happy. Said Mom thank you for being there for me. I love it here. I feel healthy and strong and happy. He said usually I've done a few days in the past just for you. Now I'm doing this for me and it feels really good.

Yes I cried. A lot.

So when I say never give up hope I mean it. There's a different with love and support VS enabling and trying to fix them.

If my son can stay so far 38 days...it's a miracle to me. I know he has a long road. But I'm hopeful. And I'm proud

Take this time to breath a little, gain strength and pamper yourself. Sometimes I believe us Mothers were given superpowers to endure all we do and continue fighting. However, we are human and must take the time to take good care of ourselves from what this disease does to our bodies, soul and spirit.

I'm so happy for you and your son, 38 days is a huge step and a great beginning. I can just imagine the joy and happiness you must have felt. Good luck to both of you, he sounds like he is on the right path!

He called from his counselors office today. Asked if I could make a visit tomorrow. All I could say is...as long as you are doing the right thing...I will be here for you all the way. I can almost see him smile through the phone.

He said great Mom...I love you see you tomorrow. Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. I'm blessed today and grateful for one more day.

oh, I am re living all of that....I felt chills.
SO, we want a report after. My husband and I were so happy to see our son, and the counselor gave us this big lecture about how he could have died...and we said "well, that is why we are so happy, because he didn't"
I guess they experience all sorts of different family reactions.

blue...I so get what you are saying about the counselor. When I took him to be admitted they problem assumed this was my first go round...I have another who used also. I feel like an old pro....sad as it sounds.

I will update for sure. It saddens me when I read some parents gave up. I know how hard it is not to.
