My Daughter was transferred from detox to hospital

My daughter is an opiates and klonopin addict and has borderline personality disorder. She just started detox 2 days ago and was supposed to go to rehab Monday. They just called and said she was suicidal and had cut herself. I'm at a loss...don't know what to think or feel except fear and the ever present dread of the phone call telling me she's dead. I should be filled with hope...but I don't feel that. I've worried 100 times a day everyday for lots of years now. I'm afraid this recent episode will ruin her chances of getting a bed in the rehab that I finally got her in to. She's 27 and I'm afraid she's running out of time. I think about her dying all the time and it is overwhelming. Just so scared.

What protective measures is the Detox facility taking regarding her being suicidal? Shouldn't she be baker acted and remain there until released to rehab? I'd want to make sure they have the capacity to handle her being suicidal and what's their protocol.

Sorry I just read the subject line. She's in the hospital and now safe, that is a good thing. Perhaps I'd be wise to inform the rehab that she is suicidal and ask the same questions I mentioned for the detox if you haven't already. Also make sure they're dual diagnosis.

I feel like I could have just written your post, that was me 6 months ago. My daughter just turned 32 last week and has been addicted to opiates and clonopin for years, she's been in and out of physc hospital's and so many rehab's. I always thought I could fix her but I couldn't, it took me having her move out of my home before she really knew I had had enough. She has been living in a sober house run by a Christian Ministry since April and finally on the right MED's and not abusing them, she even abused tylenol. She was also diagnosed with being bipolar but I really think it was from all the drugs because she's fine now.
The best advice I can give you is to stay on top of the doctor's, if your daughter won't sign a release form for them to speak with you then just tell them straight out "I know you can't give me any of my daughter's information by I'd like you to know this and that". I had to do that with so many different doctors finally one listened. I know your daughter is sick and I know how hard this is but do not let her manipulate you. Try and stay strong. Someone in this group once told me "say what you mean and mean what you say" that was one of the best pieces of advice I have ever gotten. You Need to take care of yourself too or you'll be no good to her. I wish you both all the luck in the world and will keep you both in my prayers.
