You have to remember your daughter is still using,, your just controlling it,,, so most deffinetly she is going to be high,, the difference between suboxen or methodone and street drugs,, is the first is controlled substance,,, when an addict uses suboxen or methodone it really just keeps them from using opiates or herion off the streets,,, an addict will at times mix zanex or other mood altering drugs with suboxen or methodone and can get a greater high,,,

Has you being angry , I can undrstand why,you have become so consumed with your addict, that your resenting your time with her,, your living in a very unhealthy environment , not really sure this is helping her,,, it looks more like a cover up,,, what exactly is she doing for her recovery ?,, kinda seems like your doing all the work ,,

You are so right she does take up all my time and she's really not doing much to help herself. She's been in and out of re-habs for the last 7 or 8 months but she thinks she has all the answers. I don't think she is mixing any other med's because she has no money to buy them and like I said she is like a tick on my side she is with me all the time. She starts a new day program tomorrow so I will get a break for a few hours a day and I have her permission to talk to all her dr's when I want to check on her. Eventually we will be having a family meeting so I can address all my issues but for now I'm just so fustrated. I just hate this disease so much.

I've been there, know exactly what your going through, I'm just 4 years ahead of you, from one mom to another ,, when you get to that point of doing everything you could,,, release your going to seriously become insane,,, your going to hit your rock bottom,,so my advice be prepare,,, momma,, unfortunately you can't control, or cure them,, addiction is a disease that the addict has to arrest,,, their will never go away, the use of drugs is the only symptom that can be controlled but that is totally up to the addict,,, this is a family disease, but it's the addicts addiction,,,, but some boundaries in place,, don't enable,, allow her to find the reason to quit

she may be on too much suboxone. you could check with the dr. many times they are prescribed too high a dose.

my daughter doesn't live with me--she's also on suboxen and xanax.29yrs. old alcoholic and herion addict. she swears she is only taking the suboxen and xanax but i can tell she's doing something else. i don't know how u do it, i have really bad days.she lies all the time to me, it's hard. i wish i had the perfect words to say to comfort you but to me--it sounds like she is still using. i've never been addicted to more then cigarettes so i have a hard time with understanding the selfishness of it. it's a roller coaster ride and the pain i always feel. if i missed it,i apologize but has she been to rehab yet? you need a break for you, but it is just as maddening. try your best to hang in there.

Hi Pat, I understand about anger... I think that a lot of it can be coupled with grief.. For the child who has hurt us so much, and destroyed what we thought could be a great life.. My son told me once, " I don't have any regrets, about anything.. I have had so many experiences" I think, OMG, are you kidding? No regrets? You are addicted to heroin, 3 felonies, Hep C, and a baby boy whose maternal grandparents have custody over ( and whom you rarely get to see) ... Really? This is so not the life I had hoped for you... And then, I have to realize that these are HIS choices... Not mine, HIS life... Not mine, and I can only control myself and the way I react to things... I have to let go...

In my heart I know you are all right, as you know it'sjust so hard. I did find out that she found and old bottle of trazadone which I missed and she has been taking those that is why she looks drunk all the time. I feel like i always have to be one step ahead of her or something bad will happen.I know I have to get over that feeling and I think i will. I really think the time is coming sooner then she thinks. Thanks for all your advise.

Pat, I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this. And yes, trazadone will definitely make her look like she is on something. My god, I took them a couple times, could barely stand up, and they were prescribed. I hated the feeling. I just don't get how people like that weird feeling. I know people hooked on oxycodone, or oxycotin, and it makes me feel sick.

I think you really have to take a step back, and say, this is your life, I can't babysit you forever, you need to make the choice that you want a real life, not one zoned out all of the time. And ending up in jail eventually. I know its hard. I lived with an alcoholic. You just can't control what they do. If they want it, they will find a way. And when they can't get what they want, they get mean sometimes. You shouldn't have to deal with this all of your every waking hours.

You need a break. Good thing she will be away from you for a little while. There is going to be a time when you cannot be with her, then its going to be up to her what happens to her, and her life.

My son was doing drugs and selling drugs, in my home. I couldn't get him to leave, he had friends, and people who were buying from him coming to my house. I was terrified I would be arrested. I was scared of him, when he was coming down, and didn't have any. I eventually told him to get out, and he wouldn't, so I put my house up for sale, sold it, and told him I just didn't care where he lived, to figure it out for himself. He lived, he did end up in prison, but it would of happened, anyway.
