sounds like she subconsciously knew that's what she needed but she kept getting bailed out...

that struck me too cause I bailed my son out of jail against everyone's advice and because of that he got even worse. I often wonder if he would have got well sooner had we not bailed him out.....
it's what parents do...

I have watched some of the interview and I really feel for Linsay. She knows how much damage she has done and for that one day she appears to really want to get sober and stay sober. At least I felt like she was sincere. It was sad and I really hope she can stay clean this time.

I felt like she was a kind of frail (?- not frail, but not resolute) newly sober person...not too strong yet on her being able to be comfortable with the concept that she is an addict forever, if she uses or not. I was glad to see she accepted that she had to stop. I felt like she had a long long long way to go with the family issues- they can be so dangerous for her!
I am glad for her that she is finally making good choices, one day at a time...and looking for insight and leadership from those who have traveled that road before her.
She has had the same journey as many of our addicts, just even MORE in the public eye. (and I thought midwest town court tv was bad!)

I felt that she talked a good talk, but honestly actions. Speak louder then words,,it's unfortunate the stigma will last long time,,, when watching that interview I'm guilty of forgetting that she was a good actress at one time,, shoot my young girls looked up to her,,, and all I saw was an addict,, young girl that completly got swept up in get fame,,, I guess it shows goes to show that money can't buy everything,, trust, intergity, and coping with reality is truly the foundation of living a good life,,I hope that she does not become yet another name that could of made it,,,
Just goes to show addiction is not prejudice, and hope never ends,,

When I was married to ah he would say similar things. The brain will not shut up and when they are in jail for a little while they do have peace from their brain yelling, "I need drugs".
She is a young adult whose father was an addict and her mother wasn't much of a role model either. She was the bread winner and a lot of stress put in her in her childhood, to cope she used drugs and in the beginning they helped, but eventually she was hooked.
I hope she gets and stays clean.

You know what Katrina the one thing I thought was interesting and somewhat positive is that she accepted responsibility for her own actions, and would not blame her parents.

dmatt- I thought she was a little too defensive of them. They are both a mess! If she had acknowleged that their behavior was not appropriate, and that she loved them anyway, I would have felt she was looking more clearly at the situation. Their influence on messing with her head would be one of my bigger concerns for her!

Blue, I completely agree with you! but I do think on another hand, whatever she says the press will jump on. So she probably has to be especially careful. She has a very tough road ahead of her.

My ex also defended his mom, yet she was the reason he was so messed up and not just me said this, multiple therapist said the same thing. For the most part most adult children love there parents. I don't blame mine, but do know that everything I went through all started with them. For me it's not placing blame, but learning from our past and moving forward so we don't keep making the same mistakes. Part of recovery can be learning why you keep turning to drugs and alcohol. In her cause its behavior and genetic I think.

It does kinda if make you wonder,, which I'm sure she was told before hand what questions would be asked,, and sure her publists and manager made sure that she said all the right things,, I do hope that she can make changes, because really she continues on the road she is on,,, it kinda looks like a dead end,,,
