my addicted to anything husband is having his 4th back surgery in 2 years on tuesday.now, i do realize he is in pain but to come home from work to only one eye open and only the whites of the other available and nodding off mid sentence is, in mt opinion, misuse of medication. we are all stressed and trying to be supportive but... i believe that his addiction reaches down into my soul and finds every ounce of evil there and brings it to the surface. no one in my entire life makes me feel as bad about myself as my spouse.

He wants you to feel bad about yourself, because if you are unhappy and have no self esteem and he put you there, in his mind he is better than you. Just for today, even for an hour, be happy, fix yourself up, be proud that you are not like him. Dont let him put you on the merrygoround of guilt. When you have had enough, you will know, and you will leave. Change the things you can, and cherish yourself, you deserve nice and good things. Take care.

The thing addicts hate the most is when you start showing strength & confidence, because they have none. They will wonder where it is coming from and get worried. Hopefully, that help you get even stronger, and maybe help them change.

i have found this to be absolutely the truth! after a while my addict's weaknesses lead to my growth, and oh boy did he try to up the ante! but it was too late for him, i was already moving ahead.
my next goal is to rid myself of the grief and anger i am holding onto.and i am doing it slowly, but surely.

i am now in the process of being a bitch.
he is nodding off in the middle of sentences and still insisting he isn't high. o m g time to go out w/ the girls

jms, have you tried alanon. This might help you learn how to put the focus back on taking good care of you!

Rosanne, tried al-anon a long time ago and was disappointed, but maybe i just wasnt ready, i just got the name of a therapist who specializes in codependency so i will call monday morning to set something up.
