You know, I know that a few of you cautioned me about hiding money and credit cards so that my husband could not purchase alcohol and cigars while he is still out of work. You told me that he would figure out a way to get it.
First he talked my 11 year old into letting him borrow money to buy his cigars. My son said that he did not buy anything but cigars, but still to take money off your 11 year old to purchase crap like that is just beyond me.
Second, I kept thinking he was drinking, but couldn't figure it out for sure. So today he went with his mom to go get some stuff at Lowe's. So while I was out on the porch I noticed a can of something called Four. I guess it is kind of like beer. Next I decided to check his car. There I found another one plus 2 brown bags that come from the liquor store. No liquor bottles, so not sure what he did with them. And I also found a plastic container that had been full of change out at his mom's. So he took his mom's change and bought his vodka with it.
I confronted him and he gets mad at me for snooping???? Seriously? I just don't know how in the world he can be so stupid. A person who will steal off their family or friends to get their fix, well there is just not much to them. I am just sad at how he is really wasting this opportunity at home to be able to get clean.

maybe you better start hurrying up on that planning for the worst. It looks like it is coming.
I would start researching alternative insurance based on you having no income...can you qualify for medicare? does your state cover kids in a special program?
and - will your folks, or his help keep a roof over the kid's heads when he loses this job?
so, he stole from his mom, his wife and his kids...only a matter of time before he steals from someone at work...and being a diabetic and drinking? (my husband is also)...I will tell you straight up- keep up your payments on life insurance.
when my husband had his strokes, and almost died, he got out of the hospital and lite up a cigarette...and i took him to the cardiologist in the morning and the lawyer to write a will in the afternoon (another thing you better do, or you could be screwed by state laws)...and NONE of it worked to stop him...until he was ready (he is NOT my addict)...so I increased his life insurance. I figured if I could save him, I could save me and the kids.
Didn't happen( thank God)...but I had to have a fallback position.
Don't waste time worrying about him...worry about you...
you know the saying about the oxygen mask on an airplane? you put yours on first before you try to save your kid sitting next to you...
