Well I did something that I probably shouldn't have. My daughter is a morphine addict. In our town the emergency rooms won't give her the drug anymore so now she goes out of city drives 2 hours to the next city. Goes to their emergency room and gets morphine. Well I just lost it today
I asked her where she was and she said out driving. I found out that she was in another towns emergency room. Well long story short I called the hospital an told them the situation. I really worry she will drive under influence and I'm sick of her lies. I know I shouldn't have called the hospital on her but I just snapped. She is 31 and making such stupid choices. I don't know if I should apologize for what I did or just learn to mind my own business and move on with life

I don't see why you should apologize for that. I also don't think you should just mind your own business and move on with your life either. The way I have always looked at is if something bad happened to them and you know there was something you could have done, how are you going to feel knowing you didn't do it? It is definitely not healthy to totally insert yourself into her life, we all know we can't force someone like this, but you should be there always. How to do that is a healthy and positive way, that part I don't know. I'm struggling with figuring that out myself. I just know that doing nothing at all will end in a lot of heart ache.

There is onlybso much I can do. I love her and tried to help, support but she doesn't want it. I have told her that when she is ready we will be here for her

I agree with you quilters--I have seen the addict rebel more when I offered help that he did not want. We want to help those we love but this disease does not respond to this normal response.
Unfortunately they need to go down to the lowest point they can tolerate in order to seek recovery.
We know this point can be different for many addicts and I do think one of the factors is the enablers in their life.
I think the best kind of help we can give an addict is refusing to enable their disease and being supportive if they seek honest recovery.
Also, in the midst of all this heartache to live our lives the best we can and not lose ourselves to this disease also.
