Mine is,the man has such an addictive personality.He is an alcoholic,but he is also addicted to gambling.He gets up in the morning and goes straight for coffee. Which turns him into this angry, hyper person.Then he goes right into smoking and dipping tobacco, for the rest of the day, until he goes to bed.He wants sex always. I hate that, being this it is constant,everyday.I have recently learned he has had affairs during our marriage.He has excuses for this to! I hate it all! so much.We have been separated for a while and have gone to the divorce attorney's. But he is also constantly trying to get me to forgive him and he is sorry for his infidelity! I don't believe it either. I just feel like a fool for putting up with this man for so long. But you guys wont believe this he is also a successful businessman that runs his own company. A very good functioning addict, who has pretty well tried his best to destroy me as a wife and a mother.Do any of you find that you are in this situation, just wondering?

Men like him like the power game, when with another woman its makes their ego bigger and its an adrenaline rush, as is gambling. A lot of people can function in their life it they drink, but eventually they begin to lose its all a matter of time. Alcoholic's take longer to hit bottom, some never do they just die from their addiction. Sex can also be a power ego also, sure he isn't using drugs? Has his sex drive always been high? If not he could also be using drugs, as some drugs make you want sex a lot.
Why are you putting up with a man who has had numerous affairs, obviously isn't too sorry, if he was he would of stopped at one affair. He's just sorry he gets caught. He sounds like a person i would steer clear of.

I know that my son can be hyper focused and when he was active with drinking he did some crazy gambling, worked 90 hours a week sometimes and was everyone's best friend....until he collapsed into his nuttiness, and everyone would be disappointed and then it would start all over again.
Many addicts 0f food or alcohol or drugs have other addictions as well..anything to make them feel the high, or numb the emotions.
Yeah, does not sound like fun being married to him. Get yourself checked for std's too.
You know, we all want what we want...it is just that his wants are destructive to you. His company won't last....at least there is a good chance he will screw up so big time it will go down the toilet.

Thank you,I need someone to actually hear me at times. With him I always feel as though I'm fighting a losing battle. He always seems to come out of every situation with very little regret or problem. I know he will eventually drink himself to death, no doubt about that. His Dad did and so did his Sister. Well she was drinking daily, not anywhere near what he does and she one night committed suicide! I know that he does love his power and control. Part of why I have stayed so long is his control over, he always has to be the one in control.Very strange since the man can't seem to control any of his demons. But when it comes to his family and his business he will control it all.

Many of the addicts in my life have addictive personalites I have noticed. My step father used to smoke maybe 3 pack of cigarettes a day when he was an alcoholic many years ago. I have not seen him touch a drink in over 25 years. But since then he began he replaced his alcohol addiction. He would drink nearly 30 cups of coffee a day, then he replaced that by smoking more ( he now smokes 6-7 packs of cigarettes a day). He also replaced the coffee with diet soda, so now he drink about 4- 5 two liter bottles a day of diet soda.

My boyfriend also has an addictive personality. When he was drinking and using everyday, he would constantly gamble and want sex as well. Then he started replacing these behaviors with food..
