I went to pick my daughter( 12 yr old) up from school this afternoon and as we were stopped at a light on the way back home this guy in front of me (20 ish) jumps out of his car runs across the street to the gas station and starts beating the hell out of this other guy who was just sitting there . It took a second to actually believe what I was seeing and then I started beeping my horn and yelling at the guy not that it did any good he kept on punching him . Now of course I have no idea what this was over and I never will but the guy jumps back in his car and the other guy comes over to the car trying to talk to him and next thing I know he gets in the car with him WTF! So ok whatever not my problem but then I get home and my 12 yr old starts crying hysterically Whats the matter i asked her and she says I hate this world it's so mean! I was scared mom when you were beeping at him and it just made me think of Matt ( my son 18 addict) I asked her why and she said because of that time he got beat up at that party ( remember when he got jumped at a party and was drinking back in march?) and next thing you know I was crying right with her. I try so hard to be strong but sometimes you just have to have a good cry which by the way has been awhile for me . I hope to god if any good comes out of this it's that my 2 daughters 10 and 12 remember the destruction my sons choices have done to our family I don't ever want to repeat this nightmare!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes like today I get so angry with him for what he has chosen to do to himself his dad n I and his innocent younger sisters i wonder if he will ever fully understand all the grief this has caused everyone I know I can't dwell on the past and I don't really bring these feelings up to him anymore because he is doing well and I don't want to be his trigger but I just can't help but get mad at him in times like these when I see how upset his sister was about it today Thanks for the venting time Hugs Dee
My son is such a heartfelt person... he would give anyone the shirt off his back and is such a loving soul... but he has hurt his family so badly! I have always said... if you ever have to ask for an apology or love... it means nothing... I hope my son can someday see the damage done to his family and truely apoligize... Im not holding my breath.

He probably has trigger moments too...once in awhile things come up when I am with my son...sometimes it feels uncomfortable. I was more uncomfortable with the war stories that came up in early recovery.
and yes,Cyn, I got an appology, and so did my husband and my mom and her husband and my brother...and then he came 8 hours from his new home and went in and appologized to the store owner that he and his friends burglared, and to the cop who worked with him to try to keep him out of trouble and to all his still using friends out here...he did about 14 in one weekend, and was exhausted the whole way back to his house, sleeping. He did the 12 steps...and has yet to do his sister's amends, because he says he wants to do them in person. I think he knew it wouldn't go well because of her husband...and now they are divorcing, so perhaps the door is open.
Another weird thing is that boys seem to punch each other alot...and jump off roofs on dares and all sorts of stupid things I just don't get...too much testosterone or something. very destructive crap on people they like...I don't think it is just addicts...but it sure is something I just don't understand.
