yippeeee! I had a good weekend here in NY. I got to meet my son's girlfriend. the are officially in love...planning for a future. That would have never happened if he didn't get sober. 4 years 3 months sober. 1month detox, 3 months st. christophers (I went for a visit while here) and 8 weeks at St. Joseph's...then halfway house, sober living house...so 3 years 3 months on his own.
Thank the Lord, it can be done.
Tonight I was sharing with my mom all about all of you and our society of support. I said "my friends" and she said "where do you meet them?" I said "On the internet" she is 83 next month and pretty savvy, but she was a bit taken a back..."you tell each other about your addicts? how do you keep it private on the internet?" I said "we don't use our names or theirs all the time"...she didn't quite get it...but she loved the success stories I shared and how we all pull together when one of us is suffering.

Oh Dee you went and made me cry, cry tears of joy. I am so happy you shared your celebration with us. I' so happy your son is doing so well and that you got to spend his anniversary with him. I believe there is a light at the end of this journey.

Thank you for sharing that! I just today had a birthday dinner for my son who is doing well also, and for his present, took him to the supplement store for vitamins--he likes to work on totally regaining his health. It's so astonishing to see how he has an interest in the world around him and is waking up to the complexities of life, instead of his old, very much narrower world.
I too get strength from this site, though I don't share very much day to day, but it's wonderful to 'see' folks helping each other thru good times and bad.....

Such wonderful news and thanks for sharing with us. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in all the negatives that we overlook or forget about all the great positives that are floating around. We all need to hear about them b/c they're further confirmation that Hope lives.

18 months sober!! Thats the best thing about this site, there are folks here who have loved ones with success stories and that is the absolute best thing any one of us can read about! Lots of sucess stores with great amounts of clean and sober time Yes!!! My son was hardcore using for 11 years and now has almost one year of clean and sober, he has had a few relapses but jumps up everytime and starts over and I never ever thought we were going to be one of these sucess stories but we are!! one day at a time and without all of you to share this achievement with I would be lost and alone still. I love each and everyone of you and have never even met any of you.

Never in a million years would I ever think that some of my best friends,, are ones I've never met personally ,,, when celebrates a mild stone,, it warms my heart ,,,
