I told my mom

Well I told mom my last night about the things I have found out my son has done, and all the money and checks he stole from his dads account. I told her that I was 100 percent positive that he has relapsed and is back on heroin. I showed her the proof that I had, and she finally realized that she has been enabling him the past few months, and that she has gotten caught up in his web of lies and manipulation. I told her that we should have an intervention with him and give him a choice rehab or the streets. At first she didn't want to agree she was ready to go home and kick him out, but after she calmed down she is willing to go ahead with the intervention. I don't know how all this will turn out I'm really scared my son is going to walk out and choose to live on the streets or that my mom will absolutely go off on him instead of trying to offer him the love and support if he comes clean and chooses rehab. I know it's hard on my mom she trusted my son as I have many times until I opened my eyes and admitted what was going on. I just hate that my son has almost ruined the relationship with my mom and I from his addiction... God I HATE HEROIN so bad!!!! We are doing this intervention Thursday evening please pray for my family and my son that everything goes well and my son will make the right choice.

When done with good intentions (like yours) I think truth is always the best way. Dealing with addiction in my own house, I just more and more see that everyone has to just be who they are and within families keeping addiction secret doesn't really solve anything so I think you did the right thing. You definitely have my prayers and I really hope things go well.

Im glad you were able to talk to your Mom and she was able to understand whats really going on. Its sad really because weve all been duped by addicts. We all have fallen for the lies and manipulation at one point. Its a tough pill to swallow when you face the reality and it smacks you in the face that this is the way your life will be if you dont put your foot down.

When you sit to talk to your son, you may want your proof with you to show him. I gave my husband a chance to come clean with everything and when he lied to my face I pulled out my proof. And then he had no choice BUT to fess up.

Its really a tough conversation to have, but as strange as it sounds, it feels damn good. Its hard to say the words, its sad to see hed led you to this point, but it really does feel good to say enough is enough.

You did the right thing. This now give you and your mom the opportunity to be united in your effort to no longer alllow the addict ( your son) to manipulate and control you. I always said that me and my husband became like a fist, that you couldn't unlock. You will be surprised that once they know you will no longer accept their behavior how they respond. However, if he is actively using he will be defensive and walk out. Stay focused and strong, I did it with my son. But I didn't kick him out, he chose to not live with us. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but it was also the turning point that made my son realize he had to change his life. I will pray for you, and I know how you feel but my friends son once told me ( he is an addict) that it wasn't until his mother kicked him out that it was then he realized he was on his own and it was that or getting clean. That is what really made me realize I too didn't have a choice if I wanted to try to save my son. I'm here in mind, body and soul. Hugs,

Thanks everyone for all your support... I am a mess right now thinking of how the out come is going to be tomorrow when we confront my son. By the way my sons name is Bryce, and he's 21 years old, and the most handsome face ever ( of course I would say that cause he's my son). I love him to pieces!!! I just had to add that it made me feel better!! I will update tomorrow after we have our intervention with my son!! Thanks again everyone for all the support!!

I will be anxiously awaiting ur post tomorrow, as I have seriously considered an intervention with my addict.
The one thing I have heard over and over again is it won't work if everyone isn't on the same page, so I applaud U filling ur mother in on his addict ways.
Stay strong and present a united front and I think U will be successful, I truly hope ur son is still young enough to "get it".
I will pray for U and ur family :)
