Hello,My husband is coming home from re hab.in 2 days,I am so uneasy as I dont know what to expect.Is he going to have a total personality change? He is much better to get along with in the evenings when he is drinking. The mornings he is usually irritable.,fault finding.Which one am I going to get?.I love him and I dont want to lose him ,but I am not sure we are good for each other. I know I have enabled him with his drinking and he enables me with my over eating.Since hes been gone I have started to get my eating under control..no binging ,eating a well balanced diet with in calorie limits. Have anyone here had a spouse come home from re hab? What was the result?
Now he's been out of rehab for about 8 months and we are in a relapse I'm almost positive. Even though he want admit it. It's a roller coaster. No to be a Debbie downer but it was easier loving him from a distance than it is being together. It's hard and it's a battle!!!

it is a very delicate dance to not enable, not treat like a child, be over protective, or go the opposite and be angry...
My son went to a sober house after he got out of rehab.
I guess i would address it up front. things you discovered about what you need to do differently for yourself and ask him what he will need to stay sober.
Alanon (meetings or readings) are good if you don't have a councelor, and AA for him...for support.
Keep taking excellent care of yourself and lead a healthy life. The rest is up to him.
Open, honest, clear, not passive aggressive communication is key for both of you. Treat him as you would a friend ...being kind, and not taking advantage of, or being taken advantage of.
