I am an adult child of an alcoholic. She lost many jobs and ended up on disability because she never got sober. I would not financially depend on an addict of any kind. I would find a way to work, even if it meant no more home schooling. Putting food on the table and keeping a roof over the children's heads would be more important to me. There is no stress free solution but the stress of depending on him will out way the stress of being a working mom. You may not have any choice in the future anyway!
It's not fair and not how you planned to raise your family and my heart goes out to you, truly. I wouldn't wish addiction on my worst enemy. But this is the hand we've been dealt and we have to grieve for our losses and move forward to survive.
Read as much as possible about alcoholism and see if you can talk with a Therapist. Attend AL ANON meetings!! You need that support and you will make friends. You may find some help with childcare for your 2yr old.
Be strong for your children and know you are not alone!
Hugs!
Long story short I got a full time job and never stopped working since. I could never trust not having a roof over our heads or food in their bellies. I left shortly after with the three kids.
I can't say its ever been easy. Now I have to addict sons. (long story you can read my posts). I've learned to rely on myself because no one is stepping up helping me...yet everyone seems to have an opinion on my life. SMH.....
