As far as the drinking on your part...I cannot answer that for you.Only share my experiences.Alcoholsm runs in my family. Many have died from it.I havent had any alcohol since my very early twenties and thank God that I was able to walk away, not an addict, as I never really liked it.
I grew up around alot of alcoholics.I hated it so much. I will only say that maybe your kids feel the same way but do not have the capacity to express it effectively.Me, I never want to be around it gain.I loathe the compnaies that make it and the commercials who promote it.It has added nothing to my family but death and destruction and feel our family has lost way too much.
Good luck to you and your kids. Also for your husband that he will get recovery. But please get it for yourself and it may help more than you know.
Anyway, he used it as a "coping" mechanism and now has full blown addiction problem and is in an outpatient facility. It is really difficult being the spouse, I would suggest what RossHomes suggested.
As for the alcohol, I drink more than my husband during the week and now he is not allowed to drink at all. In support of that, I decided I would also stop drinking completely. He says it helps him. I have also told family that we frequent that we no longer drink and they have agreed to an "alcohol-free" festive season, in support of our efforts. Addiction is such a sensitive subject, so I dont always explain why. But I can imagine that it would be difficult for him to stop if it is part of his socialising etc.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing!
