Also do get your name on the house. My daughter works for a attorney and on one divorce case wife's name wasn't on the house and in the divorce this poor woman who had been married for 24 yrs got very little. Her husband had been smart (he is a attorney) and put the house in the his mothers name years ago. Talk to a attorney to see what your rights are.
It does get better, I promise.
Regarding your husband and is alcohol/pills , I understand I am in a similar situation. If you leave and struggle will you have still have your dignity and self respect ,and eventually peace of mind intact. I understand the sacrifices you will have to make , I too have to make sacrifices due to my hubby's addiction.
In the beginning I was just like you , embarrased because of the stigma related to addictions, Addictions dont make people any less than human (although their behaviors are amazing), addictions only make them weak while they are using.
The people that are my true friennds know my situation. People who cant help you by listening or otherwise dont deserve to know your struggles in my oppinion, You need to find a nonjudgemental ear wherever you can find one.
Your hubby sounds like mine, in the sense that he was fine in his highest state of addiction as long as I was isolated. As soon as I brought light to the situation he became embarrassed. His embarrassment at least forced him to admit he had a problem and that is we are. You have friends here who know your struggle and will not judge you for your decisions because we know that we are already hard enough on ourselves.
Check them out sometime... they are changing my life!
