How can I help her

She doesn't want to go to rehab because she has been too many times and says she needs to do this on her own. That's not working. She is only good if I am watching her everyday. My husband doesn't want anyone around everyday so we came to an agreement that we can have weekends off. My mom is very dependent when she's at my house she calls me constantly and it aggrevates him. We constantly fight. I think she is lonely by herself and she needs to be around others. How can I help her without neglecting my husband and kids.

Staying with you & your family isn't "doing it on her own", & she will benefit more by being in a controlled environment with professionals to support her.

Although some do quit on their own it is hard to do. Your not your mom's babysitter, she needs to figure this out on her own and if she does she will stand a better chance of remaining clean and sober. She is manipulating you, she may be lonely, but she got herself into this predicament. Tell her she must seek help if you don't nothing will change.

It sounds like she continues to use, or relapse because they *(the professonals) have neglected to find the peice of the puzzle that she needs. She sounds as if she has what we call a co-occurring disorder, meaning, she has mental health issues, and substance abuse issues. this is extremely common for those who use. They generally self medicated to help the symptoms of the mental health, not understanding how to make that side of it better.
You are not helping her by watching her. She needs to go into a program that specializes in this. there are county run, even free programs that do this. Please call 211 , or go to 211.org to see who has one in your area to help your daughter, get clean and STAY clean this time. Hugs.

She has been to a lot of programs. She is diagnosed with mental illness. She was doing a dual program for mental illness and drug abuse but stop going. Momma insist she has been through to many programs. I wish I could get her to go into another. She is 61 years old now and it is just time to stop the BS. My oldest son is the only one of my children that have good memories from her and he talks about that all of the time. Grandma use to do this and that.

Addiction is a disease. If she COULD stop her own, she would have , 61 years ago. It's not as easy as just stopping. She need real help, professional help. Whatever program she went to before, maybe she didn't follow up with her meds.. or whatever the case is.. she needs to go back. Watching her 24/7 isn't going to keep her clean. Loving her unconditionally isnt going keep her clean. The only thing that will keep her clean, is her own desire and will to stay sober and clean, and her willingness to committ to a program and follow through with it. My best to you.
