I've been so humiliated in this community and the one before it that I don't even try to make friends anymore. I stuck my neck out, however, and threw a party for my younger child. Few people came (there was bad weather) and I had really gone "all out". My addicted son and his friend became quite intoxicated and I ended up on my hands & knees in front of the more sober guests cleaning up all manner of human waste from my floor. I'm mortified. Why should I ever try to be anything but a hermit for the rest of my life?
This is about boundaries and consequences. You son owes everyone at that party a written apology - if he doesn't deliver them, he should not be allowed in your home ever again.
it isn't what he is doing to you it is what you are allowing him to do.
You can only change yourself not him.
