I kind of think of it like a big scare with cancer...are they in remission?

My son was in detox last December as well and was transferred to a 30-day stabilization program on Christmas Eve. They weren't allowed passes for the first couple days, so he missed Christmas with us. He's still clean one year later, so that's really something worth celebrating!
I understand what you mean when you say that our well-being should not be dependent on their recovery. But isn't it such a relief to have this time of peace and hope?
