I am so very sorry for your misery. Hope he is evicted and maybe then his only choice of residence would be rehab?
- Draw boundaries immediately (your house YOU set the rules)
- Seek a Psychologists who specializes in addiction and get help
- Be kind to yourself, take care of you (walk, meditation, massage, etc.)
- Read "You can heal your Life" Louise Hay
- Have him baker acted if he's not willing to go to detox/treatment he's got to know consequences
- Look into the Marchman Act and see is there are similar options in your state for involuntary assessment/treatment by the courts
- Attachment disorder parallels addiction from what I've learned. Detachment and getting the whole family into counseling appears to be the best route in my opinion. Or so I hope and pray.
Much Love.
You are doing the right thing. Getting my son out of the house brought me an incredible amount of peace. It was rough for him at first, but he is definitely turning his life around. He's now taking two classes in college!
If nothing changes, nothing changes. You are forcing the change that he will not make on his own without being pushed. Just pray that he will take the opportunity that you've given him. Just keep reminding him that you love him and will support him if he wants to get sober.
Don't Let Your Kids Kill You is a great book to help through times like these. I think I've read it five times.
Please I know how hard this is. You know my story. DO IT! Then forget eviction. Go for a restraining order and tell the court you are being abuse. You will get it the same day. Do one that forbids him being high or using anything in your home. It's what got my son into rehab. He violated it and the police arrested him. Court ordered back In July.
The eviction is a start but if you want him to get help do the restraining order.
If you want to private message me I will walk you thru the process. Takes about two hours in family court.
Sending love and prayers.
