Had a great day/few days. My son - 18 and sober just over 2 months - just moved to Phase 2 of his program. I am learning to "release with love." Job one is saying no. Job 2 is hanging up when he is a jerk. Had to do both tonight. No satisfaction in it. Just sad.
But maybe we are one tiny bit closer to where we need to be.
I guess job three is learning to be happy while my son has an illness. I am not very skilled at that one... Some days I sure miss denial.
Going to sleep.

sounds like you are doing all the right things:) not easy but what you are doing may just end up saving him!

im so sorry your going through this. I too am struggling with a daughter. it is so hard at times. especially when their behavior is not appropriate.

just knowing that you are doing the right things to help your child has to be of some comfort. That, and my statue of an uplifted hand...I used it as God's hand...that I put my child into the care of something greater than me...whatever that is...is all that could save my sanity at times.
that is what makes us wiser - all the crap we deal with while on this crazy journey.

Just keep remembering,,,, saying no does not mean you do not love, it means you love him so much, that you are not giving in to him any more,,, by hanging up,,, your letting him know he can no longer control you,,, actually if you step back,,,, he is the one learning, your providing consistency,,

How about changing the words ,,, and saying I am happy and will continue to have a positive attitude during this situation,,

Sounds like your making healthy choices for you and in the long run these will be better for him as well. Just keep telling yourself his moods are from the drug use, it takes a long time for the brain to recover.
