Well... I picked my recovering addict up from rehab yesterday. And I am now prone to believe that miracles really do happen. He looked really good. I love that smile of his! We stopped for breakfast in the city before driving back home. Over breakfast he was telling me all about his 28 days. He said that as much as he hated being there, it is what he needed. While he was in treatment, he started a couple little groups amongst the patients. The head counselor there, was so impressed with his progress and the work that he was doing with the other patients that she said that if he stays clean for 1 year and gets the schooling he needs, she will hire him as a counselor. She gave him all of the info for a friend of her's that works at HCC so he can get back into school and become a Drug Addiction Specialist. He now has a career goal! And honestly, I think this is an excellent path for him. So he wants to go back to rehab, but on the other side. This makes me happy. Also, his financial assistance was approved yesterday. So I will no longer be struggling to maintain this family all by my onesies. And I remain in control of all incoming monies. This makes me VERY happy. His outpatient treatment starts today. He will go 3 times a week and he will get a UA at each visit. That also makes me happy. It's been a long time since I've seen him this clear and focused. I did go over my expectations and what happens if he fails to meet those expectations. He was very receptive and understood completely. There is a new SMART Recovery meeting that is closer to home. He will be going to that and hopefully finding a sponser there. Things are finally moving in the right direction! It's still early, but there has been tremendous progress. I am hopeful. I still don't trust his lying ass yet. But I'm more confident that I will be able to again someday. We will see what tomorrow brings.
