whoot whoot!
and they do advise laying off relationships for a year....
Sounds so flipping wonderful. congrats!
In about 3 weeks he'll get a weekend pass and I plan on driving to get him and bring him (finally) to our new home that he hasn't seen since we moved here. Loads of good food and bonding.....and yes, some work around the homestead....gather and stacking wood, PLENTY to do! LOL....keep him busy and show him around.
So I'm pretty excited, except my hubby still won't speak to him on the phone. Not sure what his 'stigma' is, but our son seems to understand and is very patient about it. Hoping the finally get their relationship repaired.
So, it's still good, fingers crossed, prayers going up....one day at a time!
Thanks for your well wishes and happy replies....and your support through it all! Couldn't do it without you guys! :)
Big hugs.
Heroin is such a demon.
He is strong and intelligent to try and nip this in the butt at such a young age. I know the relief you feel because although my son has not been in any inpatient treatment...he is getting help with his heroin addiction as well.
I sleep better, eat better and overall feel better knowing there is hope.
HOPE is a big word in these circumstances...so much at stake. But your son DOES sound committed - saying things like no relationship until he well.
When he does get that weekend pass...you will be so delighted to see your "old" son. I have a suggestion...I did this once for my son and he appreciated it and still keeps what I gave him with him. Even when he went back to using...he had it.
Find a picture of your son really "sick"...and then take one of him well. Give them both to him so he can SEE the difference. My son used to keep his comparison picture inside his computer so every
time he opened his computer he was reminded of what he used to look like...It helps when we see what addiction does to us....and best of luck to you and your family. I hope it sticks for HIM.
Keep the faith, WE can't do it for them, we have to sit silently on the sidelines until THEY seek help, Sadly. It isn't easy, it isn't pleasant, but it's a must.
Stay strong, be GOOD TO YOU and pray, pray hard.
Hugs and prayers to all.
