The main differences I noticed with the pot addict is that they usually believe the pot is good for them - there is a whole culture they have adopted. With cocaine, meth, or heroin, I think they know the drug is bad for them, hide, and are ashamed, and really don't care if it hurts them. I think it is much harder for the pot addict or the Alcohol-only addict to realize they have a serious problem and they need to completely abstain, because they see so many other people who are capable of using and not have it affect their lives.
And it's definitely a different animal for friends and families to deal with as well.
