we need to reflect on the first step to the twelve step program, for us
we admit that we are powerless over the addicit,, that our lives become unmangeable...
when it comes to our love ones,,, all of us our wired to protect, nurture, and fix whatever we can for our love ones..... the first step for "our" recovery is realizing, we have no power, or control,, and that our lives are out of control,,,,, the first thing we need to do,, is manage our own surroundings,,,, this is the point, that we have to "Let Go"
Addicts, will find ways to survie,, so when you tell them no,, it's okay,,, tough love does not mean not loving,,, it means i AM done watiching you destroy yourself,,,
Enabling means,,, doing for the addicit, that they can do for themselves,,,,,
most importantly,,,,,,,,, there is a difference from being clean,, and not using,,,,,
being clean,, is a state of mind, physical, emmtional, and spiritual act,, usually more then 20,30,even 90 days,,,,, when an addicit can give back to the community, thats the day they become clean
Not using, simply they have not used a substance,,,
This site has been my salvation, read old post ,, listen to Katrina, dmatt, blue, Palmer, bahguy,dee,hopeful ,,, everyone one of us,, have been where you all are,,,, it's all the same picture , just different characters,,, you may not always like what we have to say,,, but you will deffinetly find the love and comfort,,, some of these people reach out everyday to see how we are doing
I pray for all of you,,,,, where there is life,, there is hope,,,,

I don't know the "steps" or what I need to do first....or for that matter which group I should be posting in. I deal with two addict daily (my husband and my daughter), I have chronic pain issues and female issues, MRSA, custody of two grandchildren ( ages 3 and 1), an addict daughter who just tested HIV+, and a very small amount of sanity. I feel like I should be able to just shake them and make them see what they are doing....so many innocent lives are being effected. I don't like not being in control, its scary. And overall I just wish I could catch my breath!
Any suggestions?
the fact that you are sane enough to type, and take care of two little ones, never mind all the rest? my hat is off to you...I would post in every damn place I wanted or needed to...
