My mom wanted to come stay to night basically to dodge dealers at midnight. For the first time I told her I wasn't picking her up. I hope it doesn't push her over the edge. I have a lot to do with a Halloween party for my kids and studying with my middle son for test tomorrow. Going to get her adds 40 minutes to my ride home and would have put me in a bind. Me and my husband would have been for sure arguing. I hope I did the right thing.

Even if she lived down the street and you had nothing planned, you still did the right thing. If she chooses to use drugs, then she has to deal with the dealers. It's part of the bargain. If you let her stay with you, that's enabling her by protecting her from the consequences of using drugs. Enjoy your evening and don't give her a second thought. Saying no will get easier as you get used to it.

And, don't let her make you feel guilty! She is not your problem.

I think you made a good choice. Hard, but good.
Your kids and husband had your time and attention and you ot done what you needed to for your family.
I don't see any down side to this at all. She has dealt with dealers a milliion times before, she knows how to handle things.
I hope you can feel good about this.

Thanks everyone. I had a really good night. We had a good time partying and trick a treating in the rain. It was a peaceful night. The only thing I had to worry about was my kids.
