Ok hear I am again... I am so heartbroken. my son who is in a 30 day rehab is mad at me for telling his ex-girlfriend ( the mother of his child) that he is in rehab for heroin addiction I felt she needed to know anyway he got extremely mad at me for telling her and said he didn't want me coming to family group on Wednesday that he was taking my name off the list. Well after he yelled and cussed me out over the phone I refused to take anymore of his calls which he called me a total of 15 times the next day. I don't know how he got to use the phone that much, and someone in there has obviously snuck in a cell phone cause he was calling me from that number to. I don't know if I should go to family group or not. I am so heartbroken over all the things he said to me, but yet I feel guilty for ignoring his phone calls. This addiction of his is really taking its toll on me and I don't know how much more I can handle. I have tried for 2 day to get ahold of his counselor and I have left messages but I have yet to get a return call back. The family group is tomorrow and I don't know what to do.

My suggestion is this. Go. Not for him, for you! If your roller coaster has been anything like the one I have been on, this is far from the first time he has ever been mad at you or lashed out and said something hateful.

I agree it's called family counseling for a reaso, go for yourself,,, sure this is not the first time he is made nor will it be the last,,, why hide the addiction, there is nothing more worse for the addiction then more lies,,,second,, the drugs are just now comming out of his system, so yea he is a little irritable,,, good choice for not answering his calls, maybe he will think of how he talked to you,,, just remeber keep conversation to 15 words anything more is just repeated, and your words are taken out of context and used against you,,,, give him time,,, honestly he probably needs you more then you need him,, he is safe,,,, enjoy the peace

I agree with previous posts. Go! Its just another ploy to control you, let him know you are in charge of you now.

I would go, don't know how much dirty laundry you can air as when I went it was more of an informative class. But you will learn a lot from it. I wouldn't put too much into his yelling and screaming. When addicts go to rehab they have all these emotions that they do not know how to handle, in the past the drugs controlled the emotions. Sometimes they just yell, rant and rave, when he does this hang up. If he keeps calling turn off phone for a little while. If you get a hold of counselor ask about them having cell phone. Addicts are sneaky and will do anything from getting people to hide drugs, smuggling in cell phone, etc.
