My weekend really sucked ! My son went to N.Y.C. For the St. Pats parade on saturday with his lousy friends. (He is a louse too) anyway long story short. He got fallen down drunk. At a bar ( i wish i knew which one so i could turn them in for serving underage kids) he is only 19 as are his friends but anyway he calls me to tell me he was having some trouble with some guys at the bar who were effin with him. I said were are your friends n he said ( what i could barely make out his drunken babbling) i dont know they are inside ill call u back in a few never calls bcak wont answer his phone etc etc so of course i am very upset picturing the worst. Why the hell did he call n tell me this when i dont know where he is and there is nothing i can do. Finally i get ahold of one kid with him n he was sober thank god someone with half a brain in his head. So i asked the kid is matt ok? He said yea they were all pretty well drunk exceptthis one kid he assured me he would keep an eye on him . Ok well nothing i can do so couple hours later my son calls to say they are on the train heading back to his friends house ok good i think he made it on the train alive. Well half hour passes i get a call from a strange # and a man asking me if i have a son named matt omg what happened now? I id yes who are u? He said just a random person my son asked him to call me from the train cz his phone died isaid tothe guy is he ok he id yea but pretty drunk and i said is he by himself he said yes. I said where is the station he is getting off and he told me which one nearly an hour from my house. We hang up i try my sons number no answer so its dead or he lost his cell again. Few minutes go by and a new strange # calls its my son saying he is at his friends n he is staying there i said just stay there but when i hang up and look at my caller i.d. It says the name of a convenience store what the hell so i called the # back speak to the guy there who tells me my son came in asked to borrow the phone took a drink and left without paying i asked the man his address he told me n i said i would come in n pay him for the drink. So now im freaking out it wa very cold here sat night n he is stmbling around drunk by himself in a strange. Area he doesnt know well n no cell phone. Can it get any worse of course he could be dead he could get hit by. A car fall n hit his ahead get jumped any of those are very real possibilities. So my husband and i get in the car drive to that aeea to look for him of course my poor daughters 13 and 11 are with us all upset. About 10 minutes from the area my cell rings it is matt calling from his friends cell which it really w this time cause i kne that phone number from anothe time anyway do i dare ask my husband to turn around the jerk is alive thank god and at this point that was all i really cared about. No i want to see him so we get there find the house he answers the door we had a few choice words we said to him then we left him there i think he was shocked i had no desire to even look at him once i knew he w alive he put us through yet another day of hell i am really effin so sick n tired of dumbass drunks druggies whatever you want to call him. I know many of you will say it is his problem and you are all correct but unfortunately as we all know it becomes our problem too i called the man back at the convenience store and gave him his name and said if you want to call he cops on him go ahead it wasnt that he had no money he was just too drunk to even realize he didnt pay for it. I will not continue to solve his problems thats up to him but when you think your kid is in imminent danger it just really sucks. I dont want to enable him in anyway and we told him he can not even eat here anymore he can buy his own food its not that i dont want to feed him but i am tired of him having money to waste on drinking or drugs so he should pay his own stuff its that much less to party with. Here is the sad part all week long this kid is up at 4 am goes to work all day comes home eats dinner watch tv etc in bed by 8 so he is ready for work next day. On weekends its like jekyll n hyde. Party with hos friends stays at their houses cuz i wont allow him here like that and he has been negative for drugs minus the incident in december i do sometimes believe he is trying very hard n other times not sure. He has come a million miles from where he w this time last year but he still has a far wAy to go. I sometimes think i should toss him out n other times i feel like i should let him stay. I am so confused and tired. Sorry this was sooo long Dee
I'm sorry I know this is hard.
maybe you could try arranging a family night on a weekend go to ur local restaurant etc this way he isnt given the opportunity to drink so much (i wish my parents had of recognised this behaviour in me at that age i was out all weekend everyweekend often not knowing what i had done .i am atually quite shocked that i was only attacked once in all the years of recless behaviour ) i know u probly feel resentful that he is putting u threw this but please try to remember he is a kid who thinks he is all grown up ..... keep supporting him and hopfully this is Phase that will soon pass
big hug
I know it doesn't change things at your house, but it seems like many in the greater metropolitan area were dealing with the same crap.
The "real drunks", like my son, didn't need a holiday to do all the stupid things your son did. He did them on a two or three or more times a week basis. I am sorry for all you are feeling. I do remember this feeling way too well.
