If you read my prior postings you most likely find me saying how I am committed to seeing my husband through his alcoholism but last night I made the decision to let go. I am tired of protecting him from himself and I know that I cannot control his addiction. He has to figure out now on his own what to do to help himself. He is now living with his parents and I guess he has accepted that this is the way it has to be because he has not called me since he left yesterday. In the past when I asked him to leave he would not go and this time he was quick to leave which leads me to think that I guess he has had enough of me trying to control him too. I guess it was just a matter of time. I am heartbroken by this but at the same time I realize that the way Ive been living for the last 9 years has been all wrong and that in fact I had allowed his sickness to be mine aswell. I was very hopeful and i guess part of me still remains hopeful that he can drop the bottle one day . But for now I guess we must be apart and see what time will tell. I love him but I know that I cannot continue to live this way. I must let him go and let him realize for himself what the bottle has done to him.
