Addiction is what you have known all your life. It's natural we gravitate towards those who need "fixing".
I want to say this in the nicest way possible...you need to get some help yourself. You have been thru a lifetime of this. You are not brought into this world to recue so I hope you are not doing that.
Here's the hard part...like any addict working on themselves they shouldn't be in a relationship for at least a year. And that's only if they are working a program
Sexually addiction is the same as any other addiction. The difference I see is when you become intimate with a sex addict you have to protect yourself. Diseases and such. Some obviously can be deadly. Sexual addiction is no different then a drug addict...it's a life long battle.
Do you have that much invested in this new relationship where you are willing to always wonder if he's not sleeping around. Always questioning what he's doing? Or if he's true to his program?
You lived it already. You know the outcome isn't always favorable.
I say work on your stuff. Let him work his. See how he does if you aren't around. Is he in treatment now just because he knows it will hook you in? Or is he serious? If he is serious then taking a break is what his counselors should be recommending. Abstinence.
This guy has deep issues. So do you. Take care of you so you can figure out what will make you happy, secure and ready for someone healthy
I am extremely sorry for the loss of the most important man in your life...your Dad. You have an angel watching over you praying you make great choices for yourself.
(Sorry about the typos. Responding from my phone).
RUN, RUN, RUN to counseling and surround yourself with loving family and friends. Support him from a distance only if he is working on recovery and take care of yourself.
given up is right, you need to think about why and how you are attracting, attracted to people with addictive issues...because if not dealing with it now, you will repeat the pattern.
All I want to really say is that you are a survivor, and you deserve a healthy and happy relationship...and in a good one, it isn't always dealing with issues...it is just living and being happy...and then dealing with occasional issues...not being drowned by them.
so be good to you.
find out what you need.
put yourself as number one.
you deserve it.
