I have vowed to AH and mostly to myself to step away, RUN AWAY, from control, interaction, investment in his drinking. He has made the ultimatum that he is NOT going to stop drinking and I am to be responsible to provide him with some peace and unconditional love.
Alright I say, but what he does not realize that this requires major detachment and he is about to find himself utterly alone (I hope that is peaceful enough for him).
Alright here is my confession: I came across the hidden bottle of vodka that he swore was not non existent. I dumped it out, but couldn't resist filling it with a super saturated salt solution.
My last push back. As soon as I sigh off this site, I am googling divorce atourneys.

Sound like you are helping yourself,, unlike your title of your post ,,, looks like "Jms" got her groove back,,, we all say sometimes in order for the addict to seek help, they have to hit rock bottom,, well I tend to believe its the love ones around that have to hit Rock bottom,, to Beable to help,, or change,,,,

Your making all the right steps to improve your life,, if the addict wishes to follow,, that would be his,,,

When you are acting crazy, doing stuff that is revenge...you know you have reached the point where you are destroying yourself.

Decide what you want, go for it with haste, and be happy.

Life is too short for us to live lives filled with resentments.

You know in AA they say that resentments are like you drinking poison and expecting the other person to die...

I wish you peace. You took a long time to come to this point. You need to really look after yourself. Just because we love someone, doesn't mean we can live with them.

I hope he takes a big gulp of it first! and hes going to be mad so you better look up divorce attorneys!!
Remember love is a choice and you can choose to stop loving a man who only cares about his drug of choice... Stay strong we are all behind you holding you up!!

LOL.... would love to see his face. Years ago my father-in-law asked me to get him a shot of whisky. Instead I got him a shot of sweet tea, you should of seen his face as he drank that shot of tea, and washed it down with a big old gulp of beer. It was so funny, I can still see his face....He never asked me again to get him a drink!

Well, at least you know where he stands with his drinking and where that puts you from this point forward.

I'm sorry you're in this position. I agree that life is too short to live with resentments. Life is too short to stay unhappy.

Sometimes in our insanity of this journey we do things like pour it out, I admit I have done it. But I would love to see his face as he takes a big gulp of the salt water. Katrinka the sweet tea gave me a chuckle too! LOL We have to have some laughter, although we know that won't stop him from getting more. Peace to you...
