As some of you know my sister in law has been diagnosed with a very rare cancer. She is only 44 and my nieces are young teenage girls so the situation is very sad and I know so scary for everyone. To make a long story short, There were many mistakes made, from the first surgery to misdiagnosis, to incorrect chemo's needless to say I have been on every Doctors appointment with her and my brother in law, and my husband and I are helping them anyway possible. A coupled a weeks ago I finally was able to get her into Sloan Kettering and we were getting her into clinical study. Once again, I am trying to save my sister in law anyway possible. What I have noticed during these past six months, is the manner in which she is choosing to battle her disease has been no different than the way my son chose to battle his. I see denial, ignoring the doctors, sadness, depression, then I see wanting to take on the dragon ( all understandable) We had another set back yesterday, and I was really taken back, when my she drove into the city and they said the clinical was closed. Needless to say the Doctor had left messages the evening before with an explanation, my sister in law said well I gave the phone to ( my niece) for a project and I didn't check my messages, I should have. Errghhh! I was really upset and My husband went left, he said this is life or death, and she can't check her messages, we can't save her life if she doesn't want to . At that moment I realized once again, she has to want to try to fight for her life, I can only offer love and support and use the tools and lessons I have learned from my son's disease. For a long time, I ask myself why us, why did we have to go through this pain and heartache and little by little I see the reason why. I will never stop helping my SIL, and I love her and her children, but I do know that she has to do this the best way she knows how.... thanks for listening...
