I realized something after reading Dees heartfelt letter last night and waking up this morning to Dr. Drew. He had a mom on that was sharing a story we all know.

Son bright boy, handsome, in college, loving etc., using 20 bags of herion a day. Dr. Drew with conviction was saying that the fight that goes on in their heads is overwhelming, as much as they don't want to use, their brains are saying they want and need the drug. He and his staff ( all in recovery 16, 17 years) all explained the Struggle. Bascialy they do not have the capacity to understand or feel because every part of them is focus on drugs either taking them or trying not to use.

I guess the best way for us to understand, is that there are situations going on around us, but what happens is we don't listen sometimes becasue we are so consumed with our addict trying to make sure they are not using, getting them help, and praying that we don't lose them.
It isn't until my son was in recovery that I too could now see the forest from the trees and really learn and grow. When our addict is using we are as much in the throws of addiciton as they are we don't realize it until we step outside. Thank you to all my friends here, for helping me step outside of the throws of my addicts and addiction so that I could focus on really helping him. When they say addiciton is a family disease it is beyond anyones comprehension. I will continue to pray for every addict struggling, that they will embrace sobriety. Love you all.
