I did learn to eventually to detach so that when he did use I was able to continue doing whatever I was doing. I could sleep at night telling myself that he would eventually make it home or he wouldn't.
The only real advice I can give is when he is drinking walk away, to not try to talk to someone who is drinking or on drugs they are not home so to speak. Wait until he is sober. Go to another room or leave if he is being a butt.
Only you can decide when you've had enough. My AH treated me good, cooked, was loving but his drug use took that person away. We have been separated for over a year and he recently decided to get help. Now he wants me back, but in that last year I made changes and not sure I want him back after all that has happened.
