Hello...
just want to let you know that I'm writing this just to try to calm down...I am very angry right now and need to bring my anger level way down before I go to bed...
also, i just took my blood pressure and it is 194/124 with a pulse rate of 49...
anyway...the reason i'm angry is because of my spousal equivalent...he is an addict...and his step into using is based on his drinking...
Please understand that when he is sober...he is a wonderful man...it's when he's drinking that he becomes a complete asshole...
the last time i was this angry, was last year when he stole my truck and traded it for drugs...he won't admit that that's what happened...but i know it is...
anyway, today he came home from work very late...because he'd been out drinking...well i don't like him when he drinks...that's the only time that he is a complete, utter asshole to me...everytime he has hurt me since the beginning it's been because of his drinking/drug use!...so what do you expect? I don't like him when he's that way...because i know for a fact that that's not the real him...but then that's also a lame excuse...cause if he knows that and i know that why does he continue to do it...UGH!!!
anyway...i was honest with him and told him the truth and of course he reacted by hurting my feelings and telling me things that just piss me off!...
i swear, i had to run into the bathroom to try to regain my composure because i was in a really bad place as far as my anger....
it scares ME when I get that angry...I've only been that angry once or twice in my life...
oh god! please help me...i don't know what to do...

I did learn to eventually to detach so that when he did use I was able to continue doing whatever I was doing. I could sleep at night telling myself that he would eventually make it home or he wouldn't.
The only real advice I can give is when he is drinking walk away, to not try to talk to someone who is drinking or on drugs they are not home so to speak. Wait until he is sober. Go to another room or leave if he is being a butt.
Only you can decide when you've had enough. My AH treated me good, cooked, was loving but his drug use took that person away. We have been separated for over a year and he recently decided to get help. Now he wants me back, but in that last year I made changes and not sure I want him back after all that has happened.
