not surprised by anything anymore. Big pharma are just like the drug dealers. pushing their pills onto innocent children/teens

Adderal effects the brain differently for people with ADHD. If you really have ADHD your brain is thinking so fast that information processes so fast that your on to another thought before you had time to finish what you were originally thinking and doing. Adderal works the opposite for people with ADHD then it does for people who so not have it. The problem is many people who do not have ADHD are taking this drug for the wrong reason and for them their brain reacts differently.
I have ADHD and take Adderal. For me it helps with being able to focus and not have every little sound distracting me. Example, I was in English class and having to do work on the computer. It was so hard for me because, person next to me kept interrupting me to help them figure out how to get on the computer, then the air conditioning unit on the roof was making too much noise. Next the class next door starts playing music for the music appreciation class. All of this kept distracting me.
Instead Adderal helps you stay focus so your not jumping here and then there. I so agree many do abuse the drug. Myself I take it once a day, twice if I have a lot of homework to do. I seldom take it twice a day and have yet to lose a lot of weight, another side effect which is why people like Adderal.

I use to think the same as jainlor until I realized what ADHD is and my therapist gave me the ADHD test. I always knew I had a hard time focusing but figured that was just me.

my kids were both on it from 8th grade to about college She handled it fine but won't take it now because she is an OT and has drug tests...she feels that even with a script it would hurt her reputation.
He used it, sold it, had it stolen, and it kept him from getting wasted so he would drink more and more...but before he abused stuff, for him it made the difference of being in school and achieving in school.
My kids have HAHA....yup for real...hyper attentive hyper active. She cannot read in a room full of posters. they need study carols...they needed lots of play and exercise. we also did meditation at night to calm them down.
would I do it again? I don't know. I don't know hhow much it worked or if it was all the complimentary therapies we did.....hmmmmmm

According to my therapist; alcoholism is the number one addiction that people with ADHD get. The alcohol calms their brain down and unfortunately it becomes a problem. Also children who have ADHD and do not get tested and take medication have higher rate of addiction then children who were on medication. Also they know a lot more about ADHD now then they did just 5 or 10 years ago. They are seeing how the brain is effected. They also have non-stimulant medications which work in about 50% of all people with ADHD.
ADHD is hereditary, all my children have it to different degree's, my son is the worst and takes a low dose of Adderall XR while my daughters do not take any medication at all and never have.
