Hey Y'all, well Justin was detoxed in time to leave on our family vacation and guess what? the vacation was a huge sucess for him and all of us. He is no longer on any Klonipin or Benzo's as he calls them and he is now 100% clean and sober and ready to begin the real work of gettig clean and sober. He and we all had a fabulous time while on vacation but he realizes that coming home his real work id going to begin. He has admitted that the klonipin were his last crutch and he hopes he can make it without them. I believe in my heart that he can and he will. We have been working with an attorney to get him on disability for his mental illness and if that happens he could finally get good doctors and be treated for his medical and mental help with Doctors we would choose. The lawyer was so great! she sat with us for over 3 hours and was very thorough getting his complete family history. She said she has been doing disability claims for 30 years with a very high success rate and she of course will not get paid if he does not win and she said that his case is very complicated but she is very optimistic. She also told Justin if he uses she will quit and he will get absolutely nothing, she also had him sign contracts that he will ot use. Drug addicts can not qualify for disability but mentally ill folks in recovery can. I don't care a thing about the money I just want him to have insurance. He has Hep. C and has not been to a medical doctor for it since his diagnosis last year and that is a constant worry to me. So today has been a great day, Lawyer said it takes a total of 22 months for these cases to be determined but its already been 8 and she said this gives him more time to recover while she uncovers his many many medical files all over our city.
I will be in charge of any money he may recieve so he will be taken care of and yet he won't have money to blow. He is going back into his intensive outpatient treatment due to his relapse but this too is a good thing. He obviously needs it.

So good to hear your family had the holiday you deserved. You are getting such valuable help from your lawyer - i'm really impressed. There is that unfortunate dilemma with dual diagnoses, where people fall through the cracks, even though addiction and mental illness are so often correlated. It's great Justin has the outpatient treatment to fall back on. May things continue to go well for him - and you.
