I am always posting about my son's bad choices of drinking on the weekends and it's consequences so I figured it would be nice to post when he chooses wisely instead. Well he actually went out this weekend and DIDN"T drink! He was out with friends went to a 4 th of July party ( at his friend's moms house) and didn't drink or do anything else for that matter. I was very proud of him and i let him know I am also proud of him for finishing his Refrigeration course and passing his state E.P.A. test it is vital to his success in his field so it was a big accomplishment and he got a decent raise at work because of his new qualifications too. I asked him if he had fun this weekend without drinking and he said yes he did and he also told me he was in a good mood for passing the test and getting the raise so it confirms to me that he does these dumb choices when he is feeling down about himself and I hope he can continue to see that the more he makes good choices the better he will feel about himself.There is always hope
Great job on the positive reinforcement of good behaviors. I still tell my son how proud I am of all his decisions....hoping that he will never go back to the bad old days. So happy for you.
My husband just attended his first clean party with no drinking or drugs or anything. ALL clean people. And he actually said that he thinks he has more fun sober than he does when hes using or drinking. Hes not a big drinker but still, to attend a party and NOT drink was a first for both of us. But we socialized, had fun, and remembered it all after.
Good for you son. Im proud of him too.

I think we tend to fall into a cycle of only posting the negative stuff bc rightfully we need to vent, while I certainly can relate and need that often too, it is wonderful to hear the positive stories as well :)
