I can't really think straight because my addicted son who's been out of the house for the last 6 months using anything and everything is sitting beside me right now and saying he is finally ready for my help. He says he wants treatment, real treatment and he wants to go somewhere anywhere away from here.
I believe him and I am trying to find a place for him. I am scared of how sick he is and he is detoxing here at home and I am scared that this window of him wanting and accepting our help will close before we even get him the help that he so desperately needs... PLease keep Justin in your prayers today... We really need them.

I pray you find a place that will help him asap! He will need all the help he can get, not just now, but later and for the rest of his life. I know the pain you are both going through. My thoughts and best wishes are with you.

Praying for you all. I hope you can get him in somewhere soon. If he gets super sick detoxing, do go to the ER...don't hesitate!

That's great news that he wants help. There are ways to ease the symptoms of withdrawal. My son's doctor prescribed a blood pressure medicine that helps (I can't remember the name, but it begins with a C). Over-the-counter anti-nausea medicine helped a lot. Hot baths help with muscle aches. Mainly, just sleeping works the best. Benadryl or a light (non-addictive) OTC sleeping aid can help with that.

Clonidine .. The medication is called colonizing.. It helps with withdrawal symptoms... Sam stole mine (for my high blood pressure) on more than one occasion when he was detoxing..

Try a detox certified hospital. Some will take them but usually they need to be sick to get admitted. If they are not vomiting shaking fever shirt breath etc.. they may not take him. However they may have recources and numbers of crisis centers to call.

I just went through my son asking for help but he wasn't going through systemic withdrawal so they wouldn't take him. They gave us a list of numbers and crisis centers. Luckily his po officer gave us a number of a crisis center which is where he is now.

The system is not properly set up for those seeking help.

There is nothing easy about this disease.

OMG! This is good..this is a good thing. So many out there waiting for their loved ones to just ask for help.
