So my husband has been insisting (demanding, actually) that I get a job. Every time I mention his drinking, he yells at me to pull my weight around here and start "paying for half the stuff." I've just started applying yesterday, and today I looked on CL and the nursing facility NEXT DOOR to my apartment complex is hiring for a full time housekeeper! I applied, but have zero experience in that field, however I am such a people person I'm sure they won't care that I was a receptionist prior to taking time off to be with my son. If they hire me, and please please please God let them, I will NOT need a car or public transportation. I will walk across the street and be at work! If there is ever an emergency with my son, I will be RIGHT THERE, just minutes away! And it's only for 4 days a week, Sunday - Wednesday, so I'll still have 3 days with my son, and my husband can watch him in the evenings so I'll only need a sitter or day care in the mornings! Oh, please God let this be a sign from you that you are on my side and will help me get out of this ugly situation I am in! Even if I never get a divorce (and certainly I don't want to), at least having some income and financial stability will remove the huge worry I always carry around. This is so what I need right now. I cannot wait for tomorrow. If they don't call me, I will march my tush over there and charm my way into an interview! This is just too much of a crazy coincidence for it not to be meant to be! Eeek! I'm so nervous and anxious and excited for tomorrow!
Living with an active addict is extremely difficult. Does he have sober moments where he is able to see how terrible his behavior is? Are there lucid times when he verbalizes wanting to get well? Please be safe and consider the recommendation from the other post about seeking support for abused women.
I understand that the physical push was not what you see as anything me than pushing off a hug but the mental and emotional abuse is there. Living life walking on eggshells so as not to upset him is concerning. What would happen if you were honest with him? Didn't cook or clean one day? Told him if he doesn't get sober your leaving?
Please please be safe. I do hope this job works out so you can have some money to your name and hopefully find a way out of this or convince him to get help with his drinking.
Can anyone other than your husband take care of your son?
Alcoholics think they can do what they say...they don't mean to lie...but they are liars....they are sick.
Other than that, your plan sounds ideal.
