So he got his 90 day chit...he was so excited and proud of himself. I have NOT heard this young man, the one I knew long ago, in soooo many years, I had tears in my eyes. He has hope about his life now, he isn't 'running' to the gf at all like he use to and he is relying on HIMSELF for getting his life together. He was actually SO excited he has already started saving money, which he wants to get a car with. He asks for nothing, he calls to say hello and let me know he loves his new job, he is now getting ready for his transition time at the end of June, which will mark almost 6 months clean and they are helping him find housing near his job and setting up his case manager (he still has 3 meetings a week and a week meeting with his CM). This will go on until his year mark.

This weekend will be his first full weekend release. He can go out overnights on Saturdays, but now Friday AND saturdays, so when he called about the 90 day chit, he also let me know and asked if he could come up with us for the weekend as it was Mothers' Day and although I wouldn't be getting a present as his sobriety and change in life is his gift to me (best gift EVER)he wanted to share the weekend with us. ;)....absolutley! So I will get him friday afternoon and bring him back sunday night! SOOOOO excited.

Thankfully this young man had his VA benefits which are a blessing a HUGE blessing. He is even thinking of becoming a counselor after his year clean mark, to see if he can't 'pay it forward'. They have been amazing and he has been working so hard at it all.

There is hope! I will take today and keep praying for tomorrow.

For the 1st time in 6 years, I can exhale.
