My 23 year old daughter is a heroin addict. She has been in rehab several times on our encouragement. We decided to take the "let her hit bottom" approach. She preferred living on the streets to going to rehab. She met a guy who she went to Miami with. They both were/are? living on the streets. She has never been in trouble with the law. He has. I'm not sure how she has avoided it. She would at least message me once a day or every other to let me know she is okay. The last message session we had, she was saying that she wanted to come home. I asked her to call so we could talk about it. She said that she could not talk in front of the guy and was never alone. I forgot to tell you he was being physically abusive to her (something she has not experienced before). I told her to go to a woman's shelter and that we would figure it out from there. The messages stopped abruptly and her phone was turned off. I am so worried that something terrible has happened to her. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, any advice? I filed a missing person report here in Michigan as the Miami police told me to do. I check the Miami jail inmate roster every day. I also have a problem of blaming myself for her addiction - that I was not a good enough mother. Any advise for me would be appreciated.
