don't waste the good times with others because of sadness over his problems, that just gives the addiction more power.
I felt sad everytime I had to say goodbye, because I never knew if I would see him again.
I do understand. It is a parental thing.
and I don't buy the excuse of his relationship...because every addict has an excuse...this crap just happens. It is not a choice to become addicted, but it is a choice to experiment that first few times...and maybe there are genetic things too....but there are plenty of people that have bad things happen and they don't all become addicts. I figured that out for myself, and it helped me look more objectively and detached from my son. It helped me not enable....so I am sharing that idea with you today.....for another day- after holiday time.
hug him tight and tell him you love him. feed him well and pray for him...then go on to the next person in your life who deserves just as much attention and love....and take care of YOU....Merry Christmas.
He left a box in our truck and we have texted and called a few times since Christmas Eve and no response. So of course worried that he is drinking. But this morning I was thinking about it all and thought if I find out he is drinking what could I do? NOTHING :(
The last time we talked with him things were fine so I guess I just hold o to that??
the rest is out of our control
