I think it is typical of Moms and caregivers...YOU are in charge of who you let in your life. If you decide mom still gets your time and attention, you can at least get rid of the others.
God can't put the right people IN your path until the wrong people are out of the picture.

As for mom? boundaries again. You are allowed to say NO. really. She won't break.
My pastor at church about 20 years ago gave me a book about positive thinking (not norman vincent peale) and it said when you have a problem, if you think about the WORST case scenerio that can result, and you figure out how to handle it, the rest is easy. That idea has helped me. I was a worrier and a "what if" thinker...maybe the idea will help you.
