And that he understood.
Self care is so important for ALL of us....but especially newly recovered.
My son, sober almost 7 years, took a second job...when his first is already long hours. I had those old feelings come up. Over working was one of his big triggers for a huge collapse. But, he is fine. And so is your son.
Grateful for every day.
Don't know what to think. This is making me crazy. All us moms can relate I know. Grrrrr
One of the hardest things to deal with in having an addict in the family is lack of trust. As a mom, we feel guilt for not trusting but that's because of the relationship. I'm pretty sure the rehab counselors don't feel guilt for not trusting them. Our love and involvement gets in the way of their recovery sometimes. Good job on testing him! They have created the environment (a consequence) that they live in; we didn't. It's so hard to do the right things when dealing with our addicted children which is why it's so important that we receive support from each other!
I couldn't stop obsessing over my son yesterday which ruined the entire day for me. I know I shouldn't do it but was mentally stuck. Sometimes it feels like a nightmare and I'd give anything to just wake up from it. But I am forced to learn how to deal with it or perish myself. Nothing could be more painful....
Grateful for this site. :)
I feel better after these responses. You are a million percent right. His counselors test him and if he fails once he's out. Why should I have different rules to live by? I'm glad I tested him too. I didn't come this far to close my eyes. I didn't ask for this life. And I'm entitled to it. He doesn't like it stay home
I can shake the fact that his sober house thought he was high. Past two there also. But somethings off. I
Now understand there is a synthetic opiate called Pimp Bombs. Gets you high like heroin and doesn't show on a test. Wonderful. So
If he did do something like this he now knows everyone is riding him
Honestly I cannot understand how these "head shops" can get away with selling these detox drinks...fake urine...synthetic weed and now this crap. WTF is wrong with this country! I don't get it
So sorry. Big hugs
Well he got his newcomer keychain from his meeting two nights ago. It's sad it threw away many months of sobriety to test the waters of that freaking heroin. As I always say they never learn if they never fall. Key is picking yourself back up and starting over. I'm angry and a lot of things...but most of all grateful he has taken the first steps again to start over.
Whew I'm exhausted
