Just updating. Our son just hit his 4 months yesterday and was very proud to call and remind me! LOL....he is loving his job and has so much on his plate.
To add to all of it the GF is 4/5 months pregnant.
I was NOT happy to 1st hear the news. Sadly it was dropped on me by a toxic letter from my Ex-witch in law. SMH....she's pissed he wants nothing to do with her any longer and she is now taking it out on me and blaming me for his issues. Whatever! LOL....she did it just so I would know about the baby and get to me before he would.
He wanted to tell me during his visit on Mother's Day but didn't want to ruin my day, didn't know how I'd take it. Good thing he 'thought' before he acted (this is new for him!).
I talked to him in length about the what if's and the what could be's. They are steadfast to have this child, who will be born to withdraw from methadone as she is 40 days in rehab now. SMH...not a good way to start off life. I TRIED to talk to him, he's not hearing it. I told him point blank that if this is what he is going to take on, he will do this on his own, I will be happy for him but I will not be 'loaning' or helping out monetarily in any way, he needs to do this on his own. He was fine with that.
The strange line of events has me scratching my head:
They both are using, he od's, dies, they bring him back. They release him from the ER, he uses yet again, has a dream, get's himself to rehab, never told me what the dream was. Seems she got pregnant the day he was released from the hospital. The doctors say the baby is healthy, they've run all sorts of tests as they know her using history. How is that possible? She still used after he went to rehab. She stopped using what 40 days ago! When she went to rehab. HOW is this baby even surviving all this trauma?
They went to the Dr's last wed. They are having a boy and the Dr again assured them he is good and healthy.
God works in mysterious ways, this I know. He gave this man a 2nd chance at the big dance and now added a baby to the picture?
I pray to God that they both stay clean and sober and work hard to get on their feet to provide a good, happy and stable home for this child. Our son didn't have his birth father in the picture until the past 3 years, but he had a step dad that he took for granted who is WONDERFUL. She, as I'm told, does not have any love from her Mother, her Father is so so and there has been emotional and physical abuse in her past from her family.
As I said to him, which went over like a fart in church but it's the truth, if you two can't take care of yourselves, HOW are you going to take care of a baby? SMH....
For the love of Joseph, God must think I have the shoulders of Hercules!
But on the flip side, they are both alive, they are both recovering and the baby is healthy. So I pray this little bundle will get all the love and care he deserves from these two.

My son did same thing..said..oh yea...we have to be sober for this baby..
6 years later...and another baby...not sober 1 minute of the first one...and maybe sober about 3 months into my granddaughters..7 months on earth.
I'm angry....I had that little bit of hope the baby would solve things..the baby put more pressure...and that was the new excuse...however...your son has 4 months~ My son had nothing and was stoned when baby was born.
He said...this is it! um...yea...The baby is in a protect womb now...and I took my daughter in law for an assessment to see if baby would be ok...with drug use...and yes...odds are it will be....but its AFTER the birth....
Actually my grandaugher has a lazy left eye...I know from Methadone...but they won't acknowledge it...and I don't mention it.
Their first son is brilliant...God works in mysterious ways..protecting the young. :)
I worry more about mom...but if he is strong in recovery, her chances are better than ever...
good for you for setting boundaries, and now? buy some baby booties in blue and get ready to love on a baby.

It is in God's hands and God has been showing me repeatedly the amazing work he does. I'm not the church going type, but I have a strong faith. No matter the outcome, God has a purpose.
