It isn't about you feeling better...it is about her doing her work. Love her enough to leave her alone. She will come back to you when she is ready...that is actually part of the program. You can't control, cure or cause addiction...so put it in God's hands and use the time to rest and get better as a family. We have shared your pain. Be well.
make boundaries, learn not to enable. take that damn seriously. learn all you can about addiction (lurk on the pages for addicts here on ds too)...you don't give her money...not for a long while. You can't prevent her using again...but you have to have a contract with her of what your course of action will be if she does. and you have to live by it. Read some of the older posts about it here...there is so much to learn. You will be so busy. She feels bad about herself now. she will get better...she needs time, meetings, rehab.
Once she gets detoxed....thats the easy part, the hard part is not going back to it. The biggest problem she will face is staying away from those people she used with. When you are in recovery, you HAVE to get rid of all the friends you used with, because they are all triggers. You can't babysit her, she has to do this herself....but she desperately needs a support system....there are some wonderful support groups and rehab and outpatient facilities in CO....If you can hook her up with some of that, it could be very beneficial to her, but the most important thing is she not go back into the same setting she was in....Feel free to reach out to me if you need anything!
i was bound and determined that i would get my daughter better--but i know SHE has to do it for her or it won't work. my daughter called last week and wanted money i gave her two numbers to rehab. she told me she would call later but she liked her lifestyle the way it was--i told her to go live it and leave me alone but no matter what i loved her. she didn't know what to say back to me. i felt like i did the right thing for once and i didn't cry(until that night).
i really hope your daughter follows through. i will pray for you.hang in there.there are good days and really bad days, but we r here for you.
