hey There, I think I know how you feel, you will need to start doing your research on FREE treatment centers. Trust me they do exist! My son used up all of our money and then his trust fund and then when we were all out of resources we found a BUNCH of free programs and those are the ones that actually helped! Do not despair, we have all been where you are and I'm so sorry you are going through this... My son started using at age 12 and we tried everything but he had to get to the point where he wanted help. Is your son admitting to being an addict and asking for help? If not then all the money in the world won't save him. Go back and read older posts here. there is a ton of information that you can get from this site, we are all here to support each other and offer advice and just offer a shoulder to cry on.

I hate to sound uncaring, but when my son was no longer getting any help from us, and he was losing his place to live he qualified for medicaid and he got the very best care.
I tried to get my son on medicare from October until April...no luck. He crawls into a charity hospital, and the lady there gets him in to the hospital AND medicaid in 3 days.
Maybe try the salvation army.

Like the other two said,, there are free treatment centers usually ran by the state,,, if he keeps stealing jail may not be the best place for treatment,, but a safe place and you would know where he is at all times,,, that was the most peaceful time,, the six months mind was in jail,,

Surrender,,, this will totally consume you,,,, almost take the life out of you,,, that's when you know that enough is a enough and you have done all you can,, if the addict does not want help,,, trust me a million dollar treatment center will do no good,,,

like the others said...I am sorry...I remember the day I found out how bad his addiction really was. i could have crawled under a blanket and died. I mourned the son I thought I had. But that won't help. we can't hide or run from it. You can however help him to get help. there are places that are low cost or no cost. we are here and we all understand. Take care of yourself too.

Jainlor is right. There are places that are low or no cost that are truly effective programs. My son has been in an incredible program and is now 1 year + clean and sober. It cost us nothing but he did have to work for them but he was happy to do it. And is now doing an internship for them.

Do your research, talk to the social worker at your local hospital. Stay strong!

I know that feeling, I walked around for almost one year with a constant pit in my stomach. I lost over 20 lbs, becuase I couldn't eat,or sleep, I'm so sorry you are feeling this. In America sad, but good in your case, it' seems the less you have the more you get. It's a matter of finding where he can get it. Sometimes if he enters through the hospital ( becaues they can't deny you) it may be a starting point. good Luck.

I am so comforted here. For a long time now I didn't know who to talk to about our son's addiction. Hearing other's stories makes us realize we are not alone. Also sad how bad of an issue it is for so many families. Just to let you know. We have insurance that has coverage for addiction treatment. Our son was denied coverage several times. Our Insurance company said he didn't meet the criteria and had to pay out of pocket. Close to $20,000. Thankfully we had it . How doesnt a Heroin addict meet the criteria. It is true that unless the addict wants to quit for himself no treatment center will work. I have heard of others talking about the Free Treatment centers definitely do some research. It's hard to separate ourselves from our children...But what everyone says seems true...they have to want to quit and sometimes hit bottom before they and we see light at the end of this dark tunnel.
