I wanted to share with some of you tonight because I'm feeling so happy!! Even though my H is drunk 24/7 I've been picking up hours at work and enjoying working and getting out of the house and being around the public again! Staying home with 3 kids is o.k. for a while but I forced myself to get a job and contribute to the bills and also have a stable job when and if I decided to leave him...I have to be honest I'm working as a checkout cashier in a retail store owned by Sears 2 min. From home. I have an Associates degree in business and Info technology and an advanced certificate in computer applications but its hard to find a job so I settled for a minimum wage job but not completely out of my standards. I have challenging opportunities every day to keep the member numbers up and sign up new members and I'm pretty proud of how well I'm doing. I am helping people every day save money with their rewards and I've been thanked and complimented and have had the most appreciative customers. It just goes to remind me that I am talented and likeable even though at home I feel despised by my H. Maybe this was meant to be for me to gain confidence knowing I might be o.k. and happy again. I would give anything to feel happy again.. its been so hard...feeling hopeful again...

Thank you! I am hoping I can put some money away but its going to be hard. Hes already drinking it away...within less than a week :-(

open your own account. don't just feel good about your work, make an emergency fund...you have to do it for the kids.
even if it is only 5 or 10 bucks a week....it builds.
either that, or just hand him the liquor and save him the trip to the store...all your work, for him to drink more? NO. take one more small step and save a little of your money.
Congrats on the job, great that you like the people you work with and that you are feeling so much better. Yes, this was meant to show you that you deserve to have a life and be happy, no matter if you choose to stay or go...but it should be a choice...with some power...like some savings....please think about it.

You are taking baby staps and this is fabulous! So proud of you! You are a strong and smart mom and you are getting so much stronger everyday. Now you must figure a way to start saving a tiny bit of money that he can not get his hands on. You have to plan for a future with or without him and you made a huge stap by getting the job but its time for the next step which is taking back a little bit of the control by tucking away a bit of YOUR earnings! You go girl you can make this happen!

Great for You! I am a firm believer that work is fulfilling in so many ways. It offers you a sense of accomplishment as well as the opportunity to interact and frees the mind of all of the challenges we have to deal with. I'm really proud of you. I will share something with you, everyday, when ever I go to the store for milk, coffee anything and every time I have singles, I put them in my glove compartment, when it gets filled I take them and put them in my safe at a home. I have been doing this for probably since last summer, the other day I finally took the bag out and I counted it. Believe it or not I have $857.00 just from singles. So even if it's $10.00 a week it's something, it's yours. I hope that you will continue moving in a really positive direction.

so happy for you hosea...i agree with the others...open up your own savings account so he doesn't use it all for drinking. you deserve it!

yea,,,, I do agree,,, even though I'm fortunate that i don't have to hide money,,,,, but I do take ( in my case,, cause I'm a waitress) 10$ every shift,, and all my coins,,,,, this allows me to take the month of July off of work, and go to our property,,,and not dipping into our money,,,,,
which gives me a purpose,,,, and a sense of feeling good about myself,,

I just got back to this site tonight because things have been So hectic! The weather is beautiful and the kids want to be outside all the time. Our neighbors kids come over to play and I'm chasing them around supervising and playing while my H gets drunk and he doesn't like the neighbors so its kind of stressful anyway. Thank you for all your comments, advice and encouragement. My son is 9 and acting out so horrible anymore I don't even Know what to do about it. He was mad about being made to leave the neighbors and said they are fun and we aren't. He says he hates coming home and throws a temper tantrum about getting in the shower... I'm so scared we are ruining his life! Isn't this normal kid stuff or is it worse? I need to focus on my kids needs right now and don't know where to start!
