I took a break from DS for about a year......I needed to focus on positive possibilities for myself, and let AH learn to deal with not having me around to babysit him. Things between us improved a little. Yes he still drinks, still abuses pain medications, still lies, manipulates and blames me. But somehow the bad moments came and went quickly.
Sadly he was given Tranquilizers by his doctor BAD BAD drug for him! In just 2 days I have watched him descend as low as he has ever been.
I want to confiscate the pills, he has threatened to beat the shit out of me if I do

Yes, his doctor should know. However, I am concerned for your safety. He has threatened to beat you if you take his pills. Contacting the doctor is something that he could also see as taking his pills away. He'll know that you are the one who told the doctor.
So, I think you should leave and go to a safe place as long as he is using drugs. I know that if my husband threatened to beat me, that would be the end of our marriage.
I spent Saturday evening with wonderful friends, came home to pack a bag and went to visit my parents ( bonus here: they live in a beach community) I didn't share my story with them and enjoyed myself .
Ended up a nice holiday weekend for me .
